A Less-Intrusive Approach to Stabilize VSC Transmission Against Highly Variable Grid Strength

A less-intrusive solution to stabilize a voltage source converter (VSC) over an unknown grid strength is presented in this article. The existence of equilibrium point investigated as prerequisite stabilization. By partially imposing forming control, simple auxiliary outer loop proposed exhaust the physical limit power delivery steady state and provide support fault-ride-through (FRT) operations wide range strength. control can be used upgrade commissioned VSC with inner current intact overcome impact negative sensitivity; it also offers robust nonintrusive VSCs externally. effectiveness schemes verified by analysis frequency domain simulations electromagnetic transient (EMT) time considering change FRT.
